Welcome to our comprehensive course on Naloxone and Opioid Poisoning Response in Developmental Services. This training is designed for developmental services staff, including nurses, developmental service workers, and personal support workers. It provides the essential knowledge and confidence needed to recognize opioid poisoning and respond effectively using Naloxone.
Through clear explanations and practical guidance, you will learn about the opioid crisis in Canada, the impact of stigma, and how opioids affect the body. The course also introduces Naloxone, its purpose, and the proper steps to take in a suspected opioid poisoning emergency using the “Check, Call, Care” approach. Self-care strategies during and after a crisis are also emphasized to ensure staff remain supported and prepared.
By the end of this course, you will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to safely administer Naloxone and respond quickly in an opioid poisoning emergency, ultimately protecting lives and supporting safer communities.
